Guernsey Environment Department issues consultation paper on C02 Tax for motor vehicles
The Guernsey Environment Department wishes to receive the views of individuals, businesses and organisations on the desirability and practicality of introducing a motor vehicle emissions (carbon dioxide) tax and the form that such a tax should take. The consultation period ends on 31 January 2010.
They would like feedback on whether such a tax should aim to raise income for the States or be tax neutral with tax take being returned as subsidies for low emission vehicles.
And the would like to hear from the people of Guernsey on the merits of the various approaches that could be applied to change buying habits and promote a switch from inefficient high emission vehicles to low or zero emission vehicles.
