Climate Change: Adapting to the Inevitable?

The Institution of Mechanical Engineers states that C02 emissions continue to rise. The more sensible approach will be for humanity to adapt to climate change rather than try and reverse it. Climate change is a threat to human survival. Temperatures will increase globally and sea levels will rise significantly. Parts of some of the world's largest cities may have to be abandoned - London, New York, Tokyo for example.  The report states that rising sea levels will require serious consideration of the viability of settlements, transport routes and infrastructure.  The Institution recommends more research, development and investment in renewable energy sources to offset the decline of fossil fuels. They also recommend investment in carbon capture and storage technology. And they state that the industrialised world must taken responsibility for the economic needs of vulnerable nations.
