The proposed Suez Environnement / Sita Guernsey waste treatment facility will have a capital cost of £93.5 million. Suez Environnement values the contract with the States of Guernsey at £194 million. This does not include the interest payments, which will amount to a further £66 million. Total cost in 2012 pounds Sterling is about £260 million. In 2037 when the contract ends the total cost could amount to over £400 million for a community of just over 60,000 people.>>

Guernsey solid waste treatment plant tendering process already exposed as inherently flawed
The waste Disposal People's Panel (WDPP) established by former Public Services Department Minister Bill Bell determined that the tendering process for a solid waste treatment facility was inherently flawed and would result in a plant that would be "inappropriate to the needs of the Island of Guernsey on the grounds of cost, capacity and environmental impact." The new minister for the Public Services Department, Deputy Bernard Flouquet, dismissed their findings and dismissed the panel.>>
